The usual traffic of BIZ-Jets held this year well within limits. Little news, but many old acquaintances. The amount of government flight was then surely some surprises for us Spotters this time. Never before have we had so many "Government planes" as this week on site; rare exhibits included therewith.
The big surprise was probably the Airbus A321of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the EL AL Boeing B737-900ER on the same pitches side by side. Truly a world first!
From the view of an aviation-spotter, the visit of the Ukrainian government aircraft Ilyushin IL-62M was surly the "highlight" of this week. The past years they always came with an Airbus A319 to attend the WEF in Davos.

WEF 2014

In addition to the Iranians and the Israelis there were, however, "especially on the night tours" some other highlights to see; two B747-400 of the Japan Air Self Defense were on site, but also the B767 of the Azerbaijan government in brand new livery was present in Zurich. Retrieved from "Down Under", a Boeing B737-BBJ, an A330-200 of the Government of Kazakhstan and the colorful A319 by the Republique du Senegal appeared, as well as a Boeing B757 and ERJ-190 of the Mexican government.

Further Highlights were:

  • #024 Swedish Air Force, Gulfstream IV

  • XC-LMF, Armada de Mexico (Navy), Gulfstream G-450

  • HP-1A, Panama Government, Embraer EMB-135BJ-Legacy

  • VQ-BDD, Jordanian Government, A318-112 Elite

  • 5N-FGT, Nigerian Air Force, Boeing 737-7NG(BBJ)

  • 99-0003, US Air Force, VC-32A (B757-2G4)

  • 10001, South Korea Air Force, Boeing 747-4B5

  • 9K-AJE, State of Kuwait, Gulfstream G-V

As in all previous years Zurich airport blurted in the WEF week at its seams! around 1000, additional aircraft movements, on the occasion of the WEF's, were recorded in these days.
Like the years before, Zurich-Kloten had only a limited number of additional pitches (58) to provide and many of the BIZ-Jets flew then to other airports in Switzerland and the neighboring countries. Regarding the challenges to handle more flights,
the Zurich Airport Authority was satisfied with all operations, considering safety and operational tasks around the airport.

Ramp Tours

As in previous years, the company BuchAIR Tours organized in connection with the Zurich Airport Authority, the popular "Ramp-Tours" for the many spotters from Switzerland and abroad. So this year, three night tours were organized and within a very short time they were sold out. The same was true of the legendary day tours.
Thanks to limited number of participants, sufficient preparation time and the excellent organization by BuchAIR Tours, we got our money's worth and photographers were able to capture some atmospheric impressions
on the apron.
In the occasion of the well-known number of BIZ-Jets like in the previous years, we place this time our focus of our photo report on the numerous exotic government-aircrafts that appeared this year in Zurich-Kloten.
