Die Luftwaffe

There are a few Junkers Ju-52 that still fly today. During the 2018 edition of the Show there were two of them in the air. The one from La Ferté, which is actually a Casa 52L built example (F-AZRA), and the more original Junkers (HB-HOS) from Ju Air from Dübendorf in Switzerland

In addition to the two Junkers there was a Fieseler Fi-156C-3 Storch (F-AZRA) flying. This unique aircraft has absolutely amazing STOL features. The Fieseler can fly so slow that it looks like it's standing still in the Air. The Fieseler Storch was deployed in all European and North African theaters of World War II, but it is probably most famous for its role in Operation Eiche, the 1943 rescue of deposed Italian dictator Benito Mussolini from a boulder-strewn mountain-top near the Gran Sasso.

Second world war and later Warbirds

Warbirds from the Second World War are one of the main topics of the Air Show. That is why in some groups this old fighter took into the air.

"Warbirds legends" with a North American P-51D and two Hawker Sea Furies. The Sea Fury was the last piston engined fighter of the Fleet Air arm and saw action in the Korean war. There where a two seater Hawker Sea Fury T.20 (WG655) in british markings and a single seater in the markings of the RAN the Royal Australian Navy Hawker Sea Fury FB.11 (F-AZXJ) superbly flown. One ofe the pilots was Nick Gray the son of the famous Pilot Stephen Grey.

"La Bataille d’Angleterre" with a verry late Spitfire Mk. FR XIV, MV 293 (G-SPOT) and a Me-109 look a like Hispano HA-1112-M4L “Buchon” 2 seater (G-AWHC), one of the most ugly fighters. There was nearly nothing left from the sleek lines of a Bf.109 when you looked at this twinseater bouchon.

"Tora! Tora! Tora!" aka Pearl Harbour

One of the most spectacular displays is called "tora tora tora", after the famous movie from 1970. Although Bernard Chabbert used the phrase "Tora! Tora! Tora!" very seldom, more often he spoke from Pearl Harbour and the more present movie from 2001 with Ben Affleck.

The Attack Force was North American T-6G X 7 (F-AZCV, F-AZBE, F-AZVN, F-AZBQ, F-HLEA, F-AZTL, F-AZGS), North American AT-6C (F-AZQR), North American SNJ-5F (F-AZRB), AT-6M modifié « Zero » (F-AZZM). Transport

It's nice to see that not only fighters and combatplanes are shown at the Air Show in La Ferte. Transport planes in various designs were a central topic.

Transport Militaire
Under this title were the Douglas C-47 B 35DK (F-AZOX) and Lockheed Electra 10 (F-AZLL) where flown together with the Classic formation and the Flamants. The Lockheed Electra is a replica of the plane used by Amelia Erhart on her unfortunate flight around the Earth.

The Classic Formation consists since 2018 of three Beechcradt 18 and a DC-3.
Douglas DC-3C N431HM, Beechcraft 18 N223CM, Beechcraft CT-128 Expeditor Mk.3NM N21FS, Beechcraft18 N184KP

Les Flamants, who have not been seen together for a long time, are a Dassault MD-311 Flamant (F-AZKT) and a Dassault MD-312 Flamant (F-AZGE).

Swiss Air Force

The Swiss Air Force is not often present at the Airshow in La Ferté-Alias, but in 2018 it was in a spectacular manner. Flown in a very tight formation were the Morane Saulnier 406 and the modern Mc Donnell Douglas F-18C Hornet. This remarkable formation was only shown once before at the Air14 in Payerne.

HB-RCF the sole flying Morane Saulnier is in fact a later Swiss built D-3801. The Dornier-Altenrhein factory completed a prototype powered by a license-produced HS-51 12Y engine, generating 1,060 hp. This together with the fixed radiator and revised exhausts was tested on the MS.411 in October 1940. This series was put into production in Switzerland in 1941 as the D-3801.

Marine Nationale

The Naval Formation was led by the newly rebuilt Vought Corsair F4U-5NL Corsair (F-AZEG). Four Naval Rafales flew on both sides of the Corsair and in the Center a seldom seen Dassault Falcon 10. Also in the Air was a Moranne Saulnier MS.760 Paris (F-AZLT).

In loose formation flying at the same time were two pistonengined Morane Saulnier MS 733 Alcyon (F-BKOI, F-BKOJ). It was an interesting formation of civil and military aircraft. Not shown were the announced Breguet Br.1050 Alizé and Fouga CM.175 Zephir.

Separate displays were given by the four Naval Rafales and a single Breguet Atlantic II.

PAF & AdlA

As usual, the French forces were represented in La Ferte. In addition to the Patrouille der France which showed as usuals an impressive performance, the solo pilots of the "Equipe de voltige" also present. In recent years, only one pilot showed his skills, in 2018 two planes flew a  synchronously presentation. The Team also had to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The French gendarmerie demonstrated its abilities by setting down a modern Intervention Team with a dog and state-of-the-art equipment. In contrast, the m juped from an old Ju-52.
