Wie jedes Jahr wurde der Tag des Kindes am zweiten Samstag des Monats Januar  auf allen aktiven Flugplätzen der Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) abgehalten. Die RTAF lud die Öffentlichkeit wiederum auf ihre Basis auf dem internationalen Flughafen Don Muang in Bangkok ein und dies, obwohl der fatale Absturz eines Gripen Flugzeuges  in Haadyai am letztjährigen Tag des Kindes für viel Kritik sorgte. Der Kommandant der Luftwaffe, Air Chief Marshal Johm Rungswang, war aber sehr bestimmt in seiner Ansicht, dass Vorführungen dieser Art wertvoll sind, sei es um die Wehrbereitschaft zu demonstrieren oder um der Jugend einen interessanten Einblick in die Luftwaffe zu ermöglichen, was der späteren Rekrutierung für die Luftwaffe hilft. Die grosse Anzahl von Eltern, Kinder und sonst Interessierten, die seit dem frühen Morgen ins Areal strömten, zeigte klar dass diese Art von Veranstaltung  sehr geschätzt wird.

Die Flugdemonstrationen auf dem Areal vom Wing 6 auf der Gegenseite des internationalen Flughafens Don Muang wurden in drei separate Segmente unterteilt – dies um dem Zivilflugverkehr die Möglichkeit zu geben, ihre Flüge in den Air Show Pausen abzuwickeln.

Die Demonstrationen wurden durch drei Fairchild AU-23 Peacemakers, auch unter dem Namen Pilatus PC-6 bekannt, eröffnet, die mit farbigem Rauch die Flagge Thailands in den Himmel zeichneten. Kurz darauf machte ein F-16A vom Fighter Wing 1 in Korat einen schnellen und tiefen Überflug um dann gleich wieder auf seinen Stuetzpunkt in Korat zurückzukehren.  Als neues Showelement machten danach vier F-16 nach einigen Vorbeiflügen in verschiedenen Formationen mehrere Einzelangriffe auf ein fiktives Ziel im Flughafen Areal. Zwei der Flugzeuge waren F-16A vom Fighter Geschwader 103 in Korat und zwei Doppelsitzer F-16B kamen vom Fighter Geschwader 403 in Thakli. Die simulierten Bombenangriffe waren recht spektakulär und fanden viel Applaus vom versammelten Publikum. Der nächste Programmpunkt war eine Demonstration des Eurocopters EC 725, der mehrere Soldaten auf dem Grund absetzte um sie dann später wieder in den Helikopter hinaufzuziehen.  Nach einer weiteren Pause, die von den zivilen Fluggesellschaften eifrig genutzt wurde, kam der Programmpunkt, auf den die meisten Zuschauer gewartet hatten. Die JAS 39 Gripen vom Fighter Geschwader 7 in Surat Thani began die Demonstration mit einem rasanten, mit Rauch unterstützten Take-off. Die Gripen, geflogen von einem der erfahrensten Piloten der RTAF, zeigte ein interessantes Programm und fand viel Anklang bei den Anwesenden.

Den letzten Teil der Vorführungen am Morgen bestritten Formationen von je vier Flugzeugen der Trainer Pilatus PC-9 und Pacific Aerospace CT/4, die auf dem Stuetzpunkt des 1. Trainingsgeschwaders in Kamphang Saen beheimatet sind. Überraschend war die Tatsache, dass die vier PC-9 Flugzeuge in der Bemalung des nun aufgelösten Akrobatikteams “Blue Phoenix” die Vorführung bestritten.

Wie gewohnt waren wieder aktive und ausser Dienst gestellte Flugzeuge der RTAF am Boden ausgestellt. Leider war die neueste Akquisition der RTAF, der Trainer T-50TH von Korea Aerospace Industries, abwesend. Dieser auch unter dem Namen Golden Eagle bekannte Überschall-Trainer kann dank Modifikationen auch als leichtes Kampfflugzeug eingesetzt werden. Die ersten zwei von den insgesamt 12 bestellten Flugzeuge haetten zwei Tage vor dem Tag des Kindes in Thailand ankommen sollen aber die Beschädigung eines Triebwerkes durch Eis auf dem Ueberfuehrungsflug  zwang die beiden Maschinen zu einem mehrtägigen Zwischenstop in Malaysia. Die RTAF hatte totzdem  Promotionsmaterial fuer die Verteilung an das interessierte Publikum bereitgestellt, und ein riesiger Poster mit dem Bildnis des RTAF Kommandanten aus Karton war ein Blickfang fuer die Besucher. Die drei Sukhoi 100 Superjets fehlten wie letztes Jahr im Statik-Park aber neu wurde das Trainingsflugzeug RTAF-6 mit blauer Bemalung  gezeigt, das auf der Basis der SIA-Marchetti SF 260 in Thailand weiterentwickelt und in 25 Exemplaren gebaut wurde. Die ersten Muster dieses Types wurden im Jahre 2014 in den Dienst gestellt.

Ein leicht gekuerztes Demonstrationsprogramm fand auch am fruehen Nachmittag statt.
