 The Bell 206 is a family of two-bladed, single- or twin-engined helicopters, manufactured by Bell Helicopter at its Mirabel, Quebec plant. Originally developed as the Bell YOH-4 for the United States Army's Light Observation Helicopter program, it was not selected by the Army. Bell redesigned the airframe and successfully marketed the aircraft commercially as the five-place Bell 206A JetRanger. The new design was eventually selected by the Army as the OH-58 Kiowa. Bell also developed a seven-place Long Ranger, which was later offered with a twin-engined option as the Twin Ranger, while Tridair Helicopters offers a similar conversion of the Long Ranger called the Gemini ST.

The 206L Long Ranger is a stretched variant with seating for seven. The fuselage, stretched a total of 76 cm, adds two rear-facing seats between the front and rear seat		  

Die Bell 206 ist eine Familie von zweiflügeligen, ein- oder zweimotorigen Helikoptern, die von Bell Helicopter in ihrem Werk in Mirabel, Quebec, hergestellt werden. Ursprünglich als Bell YOH-4 für das Light Observation Helicopter-Programm der U. S. Armee entwickelt, wurde es nicht von der Armee ausgewählt. Bell gestaltete die Flugzeugzelle neu und verkaufte das Flugzeug erfolgreich als Fünf-Platz-Bell 206A JetRanger. Das neue Design wurde schließlich von der Armee als OH-58 Kiowa ausgewählt. Bell entwickelte auch einen Long Ranger mit sieben Plätzen, der später als Twin Ranger mit einer zweimotorigen Option angeboten wurde, während Tridair Helicopters eine ähnliche Umwandlung des Long Ranger namens Gemini ST bot.
Der 206L Long Ranger ist eine gestreckte Variante mit Platz für sieben. Der Rumpf, insgesamt 76 cm gestreckt, fügt zwei nach hinten gerichtete Sitze zwischen den vorderen und hinteren Sitzen hinzu.

Operational history

Einsatzgeschichte

 

    

Zwischen 1982 bis 1987 verwendete die RTAF eine Bell 206B-2 Jet Ranger für Vermessungsaufgaben. Die Jet Ranger wurde von der RTA übernommen und als HPhTh.1 ฮผท.๑ (Vermessungs-hubschrauber No.1) bezeichnet wurde.

1995 wurden sechs Bell 206B-3 für Trainings-aufgaben erworben. Diese Jet Ranger wurden bis 2007 von der 3. FTS in Kamphaeng Saen ver-wendet. Diese Maschinen wurden als Hubschrauber No. 8 ฮ.๘ bezeichnet. Eine Maschine ist heute im RTAF Museum in Bangkok, die weiteren Exemplare wurden auf dem Zivilmarkt verkauft.
