The Diamond
DA.42 Twin Star is a four seat, twin engine, propeller-driven airplane
developed and manufactured by Austrian company Diamond Aircraft
Industries. It was Diamond's first twin engine design. In 2004, the DA.42
became the first diesel-powered fixed-wing aircraft to perform a
non-stop crossing of the North Atlantic.
By 2012, the DA.42 had become a key revenue generator for the company,
having gained popularity with government and military operators in
addition to the civil market that had suffered as a result of the Great
Recession. Government customers have typically employed the type in the
aerial surveillance role, which contributed towards the development of
the Aeronautics Defense Dominator, a medium-altitude long-endurance
(MALE) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which had been derived from the
DA.42. |

Die Diamond
DA.42 Twin Star ist ein viersitziges, zweimotoriges Propellerflugzeug, das
von der österreichischen Firma Diamond Aircraft Industries entwickelt und
hergestellt wird. Es war das erste zweimotorige Design von Diamond. Im Jahr
2004 führte die DA.42 als erstes dieselgetriebenes Flächenflugzeug einen
Nonstop Nordatlantikflug durch.
Bis 2012 war die DA.42 zu einem wichtigen Umsatzträger für das Unternehmen
geworden und wurde neben dem zivilen Markt, der unter der großen Rezession
gelitten hatte, bei Regierungs- und Militärbetreibern beliebt.
Regierungskunden haben diesen Typ in der Regel in der
Luftüberwachungsfunktion eingesetzt, was zur Entwicklung des Aeronautics
Defence Dominator beigetragen hat, eines unbemannten mittel-schweren
Langstreckenflugzeugs (MALE) für unbemannte Luftfahrzeuge (UAV), das vom
DA.42 abgeleitet wurde. |

The DA42
and DA42NG will designated as training aircraft No. 20 (BF.20 บฝ.๒๐),
while the DA-42MPP is referred to as a reconnaissance training aircraft
(BTF.20 บตฝ.๒๐). |

2009 the RTAF ordered six
planes for the multi-engined Training. |

2009 bestellt die RTAF sechs Maschinen als Fortgeschrittenentrainer. Ein
Jahr später wurden weitere Maschinen der DA-42 gekauft aber vom
Aufklärungstyp DA42M MPP. Die Anzahl der Maschinen wurde kontinuierlich
erhöht, und so stehen 2022 insgesamt 16 Trainer und 8 Aufklärer zur
verfügung. |
