5. Nov 2007, the new trainer prototype developed by Royal Thai Air Force was
officially commissioned in the ceremony lead by Air Chief Marshal Chalit
Pookpasuk. The 30-million-Baht project was start two years ago, B.ChO.2
(Testplane No.2) is
the licensed reengineering of Aermacchi SF.260MT
that once service in Thai Air Force.
This prototpye will uses for testing
and research for the next model RTAF-6 that aims to be a primary trainer for
Thai Air Force Flying School, Kamphang Saen. Also the 604 Sqn will use the
RTAF-6 as training plane. The requirement for the RTAF is about 30 - 40
planes.
Am
5. Nov 2007 wurde in einer Zeremonie unter der Leitung von Air Chief
Marshal Chalit Pookpasuk der neue Prototyp eines von der Royal Thai Air
Force entwickelten Trainers vorgestellt. Das 30 Millionen Baht Projekt
wurde vor zwei Jahren begonnen. Die B.ChO.2 (Testflugzeug Nr.2) ist eine lizenzierte
Ummotorisierung der Aermacchi SF.260MT,
die schon früher von der Royal Thai Air Force verwendet wurde.
Dieser
Prototyp wird für Tests und Forschung ver-wendet, die nächste Modelle
(RTAF-6) sollen je-doch in erster Linie als Trainer für Royal Thai Air
Force Flying School, Kamphang Saen dienen. Auch die 604 Sqn. soll die
RTAF-6 als Trainings-maschine verwenden. Die RTAF hat einen Bedarf von 30 -
40 Maschinen.

Operational history
Einsatzgeschichte
The plane is designated Experimental plane No. 2 (BChO-2 บชอ.๒). The later planes get the desi-gnation Experimentalplane No.6 (BThO.6 บทอ.๖).
Die Maschine wird als Testflugzeug No. 2 (BChO-2 บชอ.๒) bezeichnet. Die weiteren Maschinen erhielten dann die Bezeichnung Experimental-flugzeug No.6 (BThO.6 บทอ.๖)
Zwei weitere Prototypen mit unterschiedlicher Motorisierung wurden 2011 hergestellt. Später wur-den drei Serienmaschinen hergestellt wobei alte SF.260MF grundüberholt wurden. Die Serien-maschinen sind mit einem 420 PS starken Allison 250-B15-D Turboprop Treibwerk ausgerüstet.
