 The Bell 214 is a medium-lift helicopter derived from Bell Helicopter's ubiquitous UH-1 Huey series. The original development of the Model 214 was announced by Bell in 1970 under the name "Huey Plus". The first prototype was based on a Bell 205 airframe equipped with a Lycoming T53-L-702 engine of 1,900 shp.

The Bell 214ST shares the same model number, but is a larger, much-modified twin-engine derivative. The Bell 214ST was originally developed as a military project from the Bell 214B BigLifter, specifically for production in Iran and the development by Bell was funded by the Iranian government. The fundamental difference was the replacement of the Model 214's single Lycoming LTC-4 turboshaft engine with two 1,625 shp General Electric T700 engines, to improve the helicopter's hot and high performance and improve safety.		   Der Bell 214 ist ein mittlerer Transport-hubschrauber, der aus der allgegenwärtigen UH-1 Huey-Serie von Bell Helicopter stammt. Die ursprüngliche Entwicklung des Modells 214 wurde von Bell 1970 unter dem Namen "Huey Plus" angekündigt. Der erste Prototyp basierte auf einer Bell-205-Flugzeugzelle, die mit einem Lycoming T53-L-702-Triebwerk von 1900 PS ausgestattet war.

Der Bell 214ST hat die gleiche Modellnummer, ist aber ein größeres, stark modifiziertes zwei-motoriges Modell. Die Bell 214ST wurde ursprünglich als militärisches Projekt aus dem Bell 214B BigLifter speziell für die Produktion im Iran entwickelt und die Entwicklung von Bell wurde von der iranischen Regierung finanziert. Der grundlegende Unterschied war der Austausch des einzigen Lycoming LTC-4 Turbowellenmotors des Modells 214 durch zwei 1.625 shp General Electric T700 Motoren, um die heiße und hohe Leistung des Hubschraubers zu verbessern und die Sicherheit zu verbessern.

Operational history

Einsatzgeschichte

 

     Von der Bell 214 wurden nur vier Maschinen erworben 1979 zwei Bell 214B und 1984 zwei Bell 214ST. Die beiden 214ST wurden 1987 an die Navy übergeben wobei nur noch eine flugtüchtig ist. Die vier Bell wurden von der RTA als ฮท.๒๑๔ HT-214 Mehrzweckhubschrauber 214 bezeichnet.
