Pilatus PC-21
Entwicklung
The Pilatus PC-21 is a
turboprop-powered advanced trainer with a stepped tandem cockpit. It is
manufactured by Pilatus Aircraft. The PC-21 was developed as a
completely new training system, aimed at meeting future military
customers' specifications in terms of capability and life-cycle costs
for the next three decades. On 30 April 2002, the rollout of the first
PC-21 prototype, this aircraft conducted its first flight on 1 July
2002.
The aircraft features a tandem-seating arrangement in a bird
strike-resistant glass canopy with allround vision. The plane has
Martin-Baker CH16C Zero-Zero ejection seats. The flight controls, which
are fully balanced and harmonized, are optimized for ease of operation
and overall effectiveness. In addition, a full autopilot and civil
flight management system are also present.
Der Pilatus PC-21 ist ein
Turboprop-angetriebener Fortgeschrittenen-Trainer mit abgestuftem
Tandem-Cockpit. Es wird von Pilatus Aircraft hergestellt. Der PC-21 wurde
als völlig neues Trainingssystem entwickelt, das darauf abzielt, die
Spezifikationen zukünftiger Militärkunden in Bezug auf Leistungs-fähigkeit
und Lebenszykluskosten für die nächsten drei Jahrzehnte zu erfüllen. Am 30.
April 2002, dem Rollout des ersten PC-21-Prototyps, führte dieses Flugzeug
am 1. Juli 2002 seinen Erstflug durch.
Das Flugzeug verfügt über eine Tandem-Sitz-anordnung in einem
vogelschlagfesten Glasdach mit Rundumsicht. Das Flugzeug hat Martin-Baker
CH16C Zero-Zero-Schleudersitze. Die vollständig ausbalancierten und
harmonisierten Flugsteuerungen sind auf einfache Bedienung und
Gesamteffektivität optimiert. Darüber hinaus sind ein vollständiger
Autopilot und ein ziviles Flugmanagementsystem vorhanden.

Operational history
Einsatzgeschichte
The Swiss parliament approved procurement of six PC-21 in December 2006. The contract with Pilatus was signed on 22 January 2007. It provides for six PC-21, the associated logistics and engineering services plus mission planning and debriefing systems for the PC-21 Jet Pilot Training System operated by the Swiss Air Force (JEPAS PC-21). The PC-21 trainers will be delivered by the end of 2007, and training for Swiss Air Force pilots is scheduled to commence in March 2008.
Das Schweizer Parlement bewilligte im Dezember 2006 den Kauf von sechs PC-21. Am 22. Januar 2007 wurde der Vertrag mit Pilatus unterzeichnet, er umfasst sechs PC-21 sowie unterstützende Logistic und Technik für das geplante PC-21 Jet Pilot Training System (JEPAS PC-21) welches von der SAF betrieben werden soll. Die PC-21 werden Ende 2007 geliefert und ab März 2008 von der Luftwaffe eingesetzt.
