The British Aerospace 125 is a twin-engine mid-size corporate jet. Originally developed by de Havilland and initially designated as the DH125 Jet Dragon, it entered production as the Hawker Siddeley HS.125, which was the designation used until 1977. Later on, more recent variants of the type were marketed as the Hawker 800. The Dominie T.1 has been in RAF service since 1965.

Operational history

Einsatzgeschichte

A total of nine aircraft are operated by No 55 Squadron at the RAF College Cranwell, where they are used to train weapon systems officers and operators, air engineers and air loadmasters in systems management, air leadership.
 

In 1996 the aircraft underwent a major upgrade programme, with the installation of a modern avionics suite and cabin layout. The design features included installation of a Super Searcher Ground-mapping Radar, avionics systems, multicolour displays and navigation mission-computer.

The Dominie T1 has a maximum crew of six and is generally operated with one pilot captain, with the remaining aircrew comprising a balance of up to five students and instructors. Training sorties are usually of two to three hours’ duration.

Insgesamt neun Flugzeuge werden von der Nr. 55 Squadron am RAF College Cranwell betrieben, wo sie zum Einsatz zur Ausbildung von Waffensystemen Offiziere, Flugzeugingenieuren und Luftfrachtladern eingesetzt werden.
Im Jahr 1996 wurde das Flugzeug ein umfangreiches Upgrade-Programm unterzogen mit der Installation einer modernen Avionik und einem neuen Kabinenlayout. Zu den Merkmalen gehörte die Installation eines Super Searcher Ground-Mapping Radar, Avioniksysteme, Mehrfarbdisplays und Navigations-Missionscomputer.
Die Dominie T1 hat eine maximale Besatzung von sechs und wird in der Regel mit einem Piloten betrieben, wobei die verbleibende Flugzeugbesatzung ein Gleichgewicht von bis zu fünf Studenten und Instruktoren umfasst. Trainings-Einsätze sind in der Regel von zwei bis drei Stunden Dauer.
