The Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing is an American biplane with an atypical negative stagger (the lower wing is further forward than the upper wing), that first flew in 1932. The first example of the Staggerwing to serve with the Navy was purchased in 1937 an was a civil C-17R with a Wright R-975-26  engine. Designated JB-1 it flew as a staff transport for two years. In 1939 the Navy purchased 10 GB-1, these where D-17S with 400 hp Pratt & Whitney R-985-48 engine. A total of 342 GB-2 with R-985-50 or R-985-AN-1 engine where procures for the US Navy.

Die Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing war ein amerikanischer Doppeldecker mit einer atypischen negativen staffelung (der untere Flügel ist weiter vorne als die obere Flügel) und flog zum ersten Mal im Jahre 1932. Das erste Modell der Staggerwing im Dienst der Navy war eine Zivile C-17R die 1937 gekauft wurde und einen Wright R-975-26 Motor hatte. Bezeichnet als JB-1 flog sie für zwei Jahre zum Transport von Stabsangehörigen. Im Jahr 1939 kaufte die Navy10 GB-1 welche D-17S mit einem 400 PS Pratt & Whitney R-985-48 Motor waren. Insgesamt 342 GB-2 mit R-985-50 oder R-985-AN-1 Motor wurden von der US Navy beschafft.
