Development

Entwicklung

The Model 90 King Air was conceived as the Model 120 in 1961. On 15. May 1963, Beechcraft began test flights of the proof-of-concept Model 87, a modified Queen Air with Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-6 engines. On 14. July Beech announced a new type, and a month later began accepting orders for the "King Air", with deliveries to commence in Autumn 1964. On 24. January 1964, the first definitive prototype, by now designated Model 65-90 and also fitted with PT6A-6 engines, flew for the first time.

The King Air was the first aircraft in its class and was produced continuously from 1964 to 2021.

Operational history

Einsatzgeschichte

The T-44A “Pegasus” aircraft is a twin-engine, pressurized, fixed-wing monoplane whose mission is to train Navy and Marine Corps pilots.  The multi-engine advanced pipeline progressed from the C-45, to the S-2, to the T-44. It is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft designed to be a versatile and cost-effective training platform. The T-44 was based on the Beechcraft King Air and was used to train pilots in various skills, including basic flight, instrument flying, and navigation. The T-44 is known for its reliability and durability, and it is used for training for many years before being replaced by newer aircraft.
