The de Havilland DH.60 Moth is a 1920s British two-seat touring and training aircraft that was developed into a series of aircraft by the de Havilland Aircraft Company.

The first flight of the Cirrus powered prototype DH.60 Moth was carried out by Geoffrey de Havilland at the works airfield at Stag Lane on 22 February 1925. The Moth was a two-seat biplane of wooden construction, it had a plywood covered fuselage and fabric covered surfaces, a standard tailplane with a single tailplane and fin. A useful feature of the design was its folding wings which allowed owners to hangar the aircraft in much smaller spaces.    

Die de Havilland DH.60 Moth ist ein britisches zweisitziges Touren- und Trainingsflugzeug aus den 1920er Jahren, das von der de Havilland Aircraft Company zu einer Serie von Flugzeugen entwickelt wurde.
Der erste Flug des Cirrus-angetriebenen Prototyps DH.60 Moth wurde am 22. Februar 1925 von Geoffrey de Havilland auf dem Werksflugplatz Stag Lane durchgeführt. Die Moth war ein zweisitziger Doppeldecker aus Holzkonstruktion, er hatte einen Sperrholz-Rumpf und stoffüberzogene Flügel, ein Standard-Höhenleitwerk mit einem Höhenleitwerk und einer Ruder. Ein nützliches Merkmal des Designs waren seine Klappflügel, die es den Besitzern ermöglichten, das Flugzeug in viel kleineren Räumen zu hangarieren.

Operational history

The DH-60 was a light aircraft which first flew in February 1925. One aircraft was purchased by the U.S. Navy in 1927 with serial A-7564 and was used by the Naval Attache of the London Embassy. It was sold in 1934.

Die DH-60 war ein Leichtflugzeug, das erstmals im Februar 1925 flog. Ein Flugzeug wurde 1927 von der U.S. Navy mit der Seriennummer A-7564 gekauft und vom Naval Attache der Londoner Botschaft eingesetzt. Es wurde 1934 verkauft.
