The Douglas DT- bomber was the Douglas Aircraft Company's first military contract. The DT- used a welded-steel fuselage with aluminum covering the forward and center sections and fabric covering the rear section. First flight was in November 1921 and production continued until 1929.

Variations of the DT-2 aircraft were designated DT-4, DT-5, DT-6, and DTB. Machines licence-built by Dayton-Wright were internally designated SDW by that company. The type became the basis for the Douglas World Cruiser.

IDer Douglas DT- Bomber war der erste militärische Auftrag der Douglas Aircraft Company. Die DT- hatte einen Rumpf aus geschweißten Rohren und im vorderen Bereich eine Aluminiumabdeckung und im hinteren Bereich einen Stoffbezug. Der Erstflug fand im November 1921 statt und die Produktion lief bis 1929.

Variationen der DT-2 Maschinen wurden als DT-4 , DT-5, DT-6 und DTB bezeichnet. Maschinen die von Dayton-Wright in Lizenz gebaut wurden intern SDW benannt. Die Maschine war die Grundlage für die spätere Douglas World Cruiser.

Four DT-2s converted into bomber aircraft. The aircraft were fitted with direct drive Wright T-2 V-12 engines.

Two modified aircraft, with a 650 hp geared Wright T-2B engine.

One DT-2 aircraft fitted with a 450-hp  Wright P-1 radial piston engine.

The Dayton-Wright Co. modified three LWF built DT-2s as long-range scout floatplanes.

Douglas built 46 DT-1 and DT-2 torpedo bombers for the U.S. Navy,.The DT- operated off the U.S. Navy's first aircraft carrier, USS Langley, from land bases, and from seaplane tenders. Several were flown by the Marine Corps.

Douglas baute 46 DT-1 und DT-2 Torpedo-Bomber für die US Navy. Diw DT- operierten vom ersten Flugzeugträger USS Langley der US Navy und vom Land aus sowie als Wasserflugzeuge. Mehrere wurden vom Marine Corps geflogen.
