Einsatzgeschichte
The XFO-1 designation was first assigned in 1943 to four F-5B Lightnings which were transferred from the USAAF to the U.S. Navy in North Africa. They were later returned. It has also been suggested that they were used in Hawaii as trainers for the F7F-.
