Since 2000, the US Navy operates 10 carrier groups (CVW) and a reserve (CVWR). On 1 April 2007, the CVGR-20 was renamed Tactical Support Wing (TSW). The Tactical Support Wing provides only individual squadrons which could assist the carrier groups. Independent carriers deployments are no longer possible.
2013 carrier groups were
reshuffled. The CVW-14 was disbanded and the CVW-17 was assigned to the
Pacific coast from the Atlantic.
Thus, the Atlantic area has 4 Air Wings and the Pacific 5, one of which is
located in Japan.
Seit 2000

die Trägergruppen unterstützen könne. Eigenständige
Trägereinsätze

2013 wurden die
Trägergruppen neu aufgeteilt. Die CVW-14 wurde aufgelöst und die CVW-17
wurde von der atlantischen Küste der Pazifischen zugeordnet.
Somit verfügt der Atlantische Bereich über 4 Trägergruppen und der
Pazifische über deren 5, wobei eine in Japan beheimatet ist.
