The de Havilland D.H.114
Heron was a small propeller-driven British airliner that first flew on
10 May 1950. It was a development of the twin-engine de Havilland Dove,
with a stretched fuselage and two more engines. It was designed as a
rugged, conventional low-wing monoplane with tricycle undercarriage that
could be used on regional and commuter routes. A total of 149 were built,
and it was also exported to about 30 countries. |
Die de Havilland D.H.114 Heron
war ein kleines britisches Verkehrsflugzeug mit Propellerantrieb, das am 10.
Mai 1950 erstmals flog. Es war eine Weiterentwicklung der zweimotorigen de
Havilland Dove, mit einem gestreckten Rumpf und zwei weiteren Triebwerken.
Es wurde als robuster, konventioneller Tiefdecker mit Dreiradfahrwerk
konzipiert, der auf Regional- und Pendlerstrecken eingesetzt werden konnte.
Es wurden insgesamt 149 gebaut und in etwa 30 Länder exportiert. |

Three ex-civil Heron 2s and two Heron 2Bs were acquired by the Royal Navy in 1961. The first two (Heron 2B) XR441 and XR442, were formerly G-AORG and G-AORH of Jersey Airlines. Sea Herons XR443 to XR445 were previously of West Africa Airways. |
Drei ehemalige zivile Heron 2 und zwei Heron 2B wurden 1961 von der Royal Navy erworben. Die ersten beiden (Heron 2B) XR441 und XR442 waren früher G-AORG und G-AORH von Jersey Airlines. Sea Heron XR443 bis XR445 waren zuvor bei West Africa Airways. |
