History

717 NAS
formed at RNAS Fearn on 1. July 1944 as a Torpedo Bomber
Reconnaissance Training Squadron. With 714 NAS
it received aircrew from their specialist training and assembled
them into complete crews. Equipped with Barracuda IIs, it moved to
RNAS Rattray on 31. October 1944 where it operated Part I of the TBR
Course. It took over the task of the disbanding
714 NAS on 29. October 1945, but was
itself disbanded at RNAS Rattray on 22. March 1946.
