 The Fokker F27 Friendship is a turboprop airliner developed and manufactured by the Dutch aircraft manufacturer Fokker. The F27 was developed during the early 1950s with the intent of producing a capable successor to the earlier piston engine-powered airliners that had become commonplace on the market. A key innovation of the F27 was the adoption of the Rolls-Royce Dart turboprop engine, which produced substantially less vibration and noise which provided improved conditions for passengers; another major comfort feature was cabin pressurisation.

On 24 November 1955, the F27 made its maiden flight; on 19 November 1958, the type was introduced to service. Throughout the F27's production life, Fokker proceeded to adapt the design for various purposes and roles. Via modifications such as the adoption of improved engines, rearranged loading doors, elongated fuselages, and other changes, several different models of the F27 were developed and made available for commercial operators. Several military transport models were also produced. Fokker also chose to design a dedicated model of the F27 for conducting maritime reconnaissance missions.

   Die Fokker F27 Friendship ist ein Turboprop-Flugzeug, das vom niederländischen Flugzeughersteller Fokker entwickelt und hergestellt wird. Die F27 wurde in den frühen 1950er Jahren mit der Absicht entwickelt, einen  Nachfolger für die früheren auf dem Markt üblichen Kolbenmotor-Flugzeuge zu produzieren. Eine wichtige Neuerung des F27 war die Einführung des Rolls-Royce Dart-Turboprop-Motors, der wesentlich weniger Vibrationen und Geräusche erzeugte und den Fahrgästen verbesserte Bedingungen bot. Ein weiteres wichtiges Komfortmerkmal war die Druckbeaufschlagung der Kabine.
Am 24. November 1955 machte die F27 ihren Jungfernflug; am 19. November 1958 wurde der Typ in den Dienst genommen. Während des gesamten Produktionszeit der F27 passte Fokker das Design für verschiedene Zwecke und Rollen an. Durch Modifikationen wie die Einführung verbesserter Motoren, neu angeordneter Ladetüren, längerer Rümpfe und anderer Änderungen wurden verschiedene Modelle der F27 entwickelt und kommerziellen Betreibern zur Verfügung gestellt. Es wurden auch mehrere militärische Transportmodelle hergestellt. Fokker entschied sich auch für ein spezielles Modell der F27 für die Durchführung von Aufklärungsmissionen auf See.
