Continental Air Services, Inc, better known as CASI, was a subsidiary airline of Continental Air-lines set up to provide operations and airlift support in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. CASI was formed as the South-East Asia Division of Continental in April 1965 with operations starting in September 1965 using approximately 22, mainly STOL, aircraft. Contintental paid  $4.5 million for Bird and Sons and its 350 employees and 22 aircraft. CASI aircraft in Laos were regis-tered as Air Continental. The objective was to provide a "less visible" air transport alternative to the CIA-associated Air America for the growing Laotian support.
 

Aircraft were interchanged between the fleets of Air America and CASI, perhaps without any change of ownership, thus adding a further complication to the compiling of fleet lists. Many aircraft owned by Bird & Sons were registered in Laos (on the XW- register) and some of the survivors were later transferred to the US register under CASI ownership many years after the take-over. With the fall of Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia, operations were terminated and the surviving aircraft were sold.

Flugzeuge wurden zwischen den Flotten von Air America und CASI ausgetauscht, möglicherweise ohne Besitzerwechsel, was die Erstellung von Flottenlisten zusätzlich erschwerte. Viele Flug-zeuge von Bird & Sons wurden in Laos registriert (im XW-Register) und einige der Überlebenden wurden später viele Jahre nach der Übernahme in das US-Register unter CASI-Eigentum überführt. Mit dem Fall von Laos, Vietnam und Kambodscha wurde der Betrieb eingestellt und die übrig-gebliebenen Flugzeuge verkauft.
