Our reporter Guido Bühlmann always spends the European winter in the warm climate of Southeast Asia. In January 2023 he was again in Thailand and especially on the tourist island of Phuket. Phuket as a holiday destination had suffered extremely from the Thai government's Covid 19 restrictions. A total travel ban, as in many other countries, has brought tourism to a complete standstill and caused economic damage of unprecedented proportions. Even large shopping centers in Patong like Jungceylon had to close and only reopened in January 2023.

Therefore, it was like a blessing for Thailand and Phuket when the ostracized Russian tourists from all over the world streamed into the country and filled the empty hotels when there was still restraint in Europe and the USA about the aggression against the Ukraine. This peaceful Russian invasion was also reflected in the holiday airlines that flew to Phuket International Airport. There were some Russian machines among them.

Phuket Airport is located on the island of the same name right next to the beach. This airport is therefore ideal for taking beautiful pictures with a great background. The beach is located in a small national park with free access. .
