The Vought O2U- Corsair was a 1920s biplane scout and observation aircraft. Made by Vought Corporation, the O2U- was ordered by the U.S. Navy in 1927. Powered by a 400 hp Pratt & Whitney R-1340 Wasp engine, it incorporated a steel-tube fuselage structure and a wood wing structure with fabric covering.

Die Vought O2U- Corsair war ein Doppeldecker Aufklärungs- und Beobachtungsflugzeug der 20er Jahre. Hergestellt von der Vought Corporation, wurde die O2U- 1927 von der U.S. Navy bestellt. Angetrieben von einem 400 PS Pratt & Whitney R-1340 Wasp Motor hatte es eine Stahlrohr-rumpfstruktur mit hölzernen Flügeln die Stoffbespannt waren.

Einsatzgeschichte

In 1927, a total of 291 O2U-s were produced. The O2U-2, -3 and -4 were ordered in 1928 with minor changes. By 1930 they were being superseded by the O3U which was basically similar to the O2U-4, one of which was fitted with the Grumman float, and were manufactured until 1936.

1927 wurden insgesamt 291 O2U-s produziert. Die 1928 bestellten O2U-2, -3 und -4 waren mit geringfügigen Änderungen versehen. 1930 wurden sie durch die O3U- abgelöst, die grundsätzlich ähnlich der O2U-4 war und mit einem Grumman Schwimmer ausgerüstet war  und bis 1936 hergestellt wurden.
