History

The VRF-32’s role was to fly aircraft and helicopters to and from depot-level maintenance, between squadrons, from aircraft manufacturers, and to and from the ‘boneyard’ at Davis-Monthan AFB in Arizona. The pilots were generally qualified to fly several different types and categories of aircraft, such as tactical jet aircraft, multi-engine and single-engine aircraft, and helicopters. Mixed crews were often formed with the sister squadron, VRF-31.

Although the transport squadrons (VRF-31 & VRF-32) were assigned code letters, these were not affixed to the aircraft; the same applies to tactical numbers.
