Miles Martinet

Entwicklung
The Miles Martinet TT.I was a target tug aircraft of the FAA that was in service during the WWII. It was the first British aircraft to be designed specifically for target towing.
Based upon the Miles Master
II, the Martinet featured a strengthened airframe to handle the stresses
of towing a target drogue. Other differences from the Master included a
longer nose, higher cockpit and
greater wingspan, but otherwise the two aircraft shared many common
components. The targets and towing gear were contained in a fairing
beneath the fuselage and were retracted by an external, wind-powered
winch.
The first prototype Martinet
was first flown on 24 April 1942, by Chief Test Pilot F/Lt Thomas Rose
from Woodley Aerodrome.
Die Miles Martinet TT.I war ein Ziel Schlepp-flugzeug der FAA das während des Zweiten Weltkriegs im Dienst war. Es war das erste britische Flugzeug das speziell für das Zielschleppen ausgelegt war.
Basierend auf dem Miles Master II kennzeichnete die Martinet eine verstärkte Zelle, die Spannungen vom schleppen des Zieles aufnahm. Weitere Unterschiede gegenüber der Master waren eine längere Nase, ein höher angebrachtes Cockpit und eine grössere Spannweite. Aber ansonsten enthielten die Maschinen viele gemeinsame Teile. Die Ziele und das Schleppgeschirr wurden in einer Verkleidung unter dem Rumpf getragen und wurden von einem externen, windbetriebene Winde zurückgezogen.
Der Prototyp Martinet wurde zum ersten Mal am 24. April 1942 von Chef-Testpilot F / Lt Thomas Rose auf dem Woodley Aerodrome geflogen.
